North Coast 500 - July 2022
Richard Pickering (Pickers)
My Story
Hi Everybody, I'm Richard. I'm cycling the July/August leg of the NC500 for 2022 for BTUKFMS. I'm a lifelong mountain biker of over 30 years but have always dabbled in road cycling. I love cycling in all its forms and use it to enhance my life! I normally ride enduros, bike parks, big mountains and steep sketchy stuff but I'm diversifying 😀. My story behind BTUKFMS and my connection to MS is a close one. My wife Rosie Pickering has MS. In 2021 she rode and smashed JOGLE for this charity. In a nutshell, she inspired me to get off my derrier and raise my personal game. So, I bought a road bike again and started riding. Then I entered the NC500. Then I told her I'd entered it. So she's entered the NC500 in September 2022. We're riding as a double act and we can't wait. I'm riding to raise money for this charity because I know our local Bassetlaw MS support group receives funding from the charity. I know how much it means to support these local charities and they really do make a difference to peoples lives. I've been in healthcare for 19 years and had lots of experience with various forms of MS in different circumstances. So I'm championing this event and asking anyone who'll listen to donate as much as they can. I can't wait to ride the NC500 and get stuck into this challenge. I'll promise to try my best and not fall off too many time
Support the fight against MS and help me reach my fundraising goal! Follow along as I pedal the North Coast 500 with Bike the UK for MS!
This summer I will be biking 535 miles around the north coast of Scotland to raise funds and awareness for multiple sclerosis with Bike the UK for MS. We will stop along the way to volunteer and meet amazing local MS groups that will help to support!
